Media Shipping Instructions

Media Shipping Instructions + Media Shipping Form

Please PRINT the form, fill it out, sign it and send it to us with your hard drive/media from which you need data recovery. PLEASE CUT THE SHIPPING ADDRESS LABEL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SHIPPING FORM AND STICK IT ON YOUR PACKAGE.

If you are sending your data from outside the AUS, you MUST state clearly on the address label the following statement: "GOODS FOR REPAIR AND RETURN TO SENDER. Commercial value $5" Otherwise we have to pay customs and GST charges before we can take delivery of your media.

Media Packaging Instructions:

As a general rule, handle a hard disk as you would handle an egg. Handle failed hard disk drives with the same care as new drives.

Use the original shipping materials, if you still have them. If do not have them, they are relatively easy to replicate

  1. Wrap media (i.e. hard disk) in an anti-static bag, tinfoil or simply kitchen alumnium foil to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD).
  2. Use a box that is at least twice the size of the media so that the media can be suspended in the middle of the box. We recommend a minimum of two inches of insulation all around for a 2 lb drive.
  3. Pack securely with foam, bubble wrap, or creased newspaper so the media will not move from the middle of the box. Avoid using peanuts as contents will settle to the bottom of the box. DO NOT SEND YOU HARD DRIVE IN JIFFY BAGS.
  4. If sending a PC, laptop or notebook, use great care to ensure proper cushioning and protection. We recommend at least 6 inches for insulation. The heavier the unit, the more insulation and cushioning is required.
  5. Make sure it is clearly labelled as FRAGILE and don't forget to include the completed and signed media shipping form.

If you have any questions or you want to discuss a specific case, please do call us on +61 03 9546 0199 and speak with a customer service person. If you have a fax machine, fax a copy of the completed and signed form to +61 03 9546 0177 so that we can pre-book your data recovery request.

As an accredited premier data recovery company, we will be able to professionally handle any data loss and offer appropriate solutions. Once we have your faulty media, (hard drive or any storage device) Creative Computers technicians will inspect the media and produce a data recovery analysis. Our disc recovery consultation and analysis is FREE.

Alternatively you can drop off your hard drive if you are in Melbourne. (click here for directions and parking.)
